The Association of Middle East Children & Youth Studies (AMECYS) calls those engaged in the study of children and youth in the region to propose AMECYS-sponsored panels, roundtables and workshops at the Society for the History of Children & Youth’s (SHCY) biennial meeting in Sydney, Australia, June 26-28.
Proposals can be submitted in any capacity that aligns with AMECYS’ mission statement:
The AMECYS is a private, non-profit, international association for scholars with an interest in the study of children and youth in the Middle East, North Africa and their diasporic communities. Through interdisciplinary programs, publications, and services, AMECYS promotes innovative scholarship, facilitates global academic exchange, and enhances public understanding about Middle Eastern children and youth in diverse times and places.
The AMECYS program chair and appointed committee will review all proposals submitted by members of AMECYS. AMECYS may offer feedback on the proposals, but sponsorship by AMECYS does not guarantee conference acceptance. See SHCY’s call for papers (posted below).
Collective proposals should include 1) title page with title of session, type of session (panel, roundtable, workshop. Etc.), participants’ names and roles in the session, affiliations and email addresses, 2) a 100- word session summary 3) 250 word abstracts for each individual paper presenter/contributor and 5) 1 page CV for each participant in one MS word document. Proposals should be sent to Dylan.firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday May 23, 2018.
Selected proposals will be submitted by the proposal convener(s) in conjunction with the program chair by the external SHCY deadline of Wednesday May 30, to be reviewed by the SHCY program committee. If accepted, the panel will be read as AMECYS sponsored in the 2019 meeting program.
